Eco friendly

Your carbon footprint is light in Casa Dora.

We treat and recycle all water for our gardens. We use biodigestors. We use ecological lights. The spaces have been designed for maximum airflow. All spaces use natural materials wherever possible: adobe, palm-thatch, wood, clay tiles.

Our Neighborhood

We live down an authentic Mexican village alley with families and children. It is a footpath with no cars. We are toward the end of the alley so cars from the main street cannot be heard. You will hear neighbors as everyone lives outside. Neighbors are close by. You will hear neighbors’ music, children playing and the ocean. Movements in the neighborhood can start as early as 7. If you are looking to sleep in later than 8, this is not the space for you.

How to Find Us

We are located in San Agustinillo. Click for our location.

Alternately, go to La Casa del Pueblo in San Agustinillo. It is painted golden yellow with “San Agustinillo” painted in bright letters on the wall. With your back to La Casa del Pueblo, walk 30 meters up the alley directly across the street. (This is Paseo de los Cocos). Casa Dora is on the left. Wooden gate with white heart.

Cleaning

We follow an enhanced cleaning protocol, which was developed with expert guidance. Here are a few highlights: We sanitize high-touch surfaces, down to the doorknob We use cleaners and disinfectants approved by global health agencies, and wear protective gear to help prevent cross-contamination We clean each room using extensive cleaning checklists We provide extra cleaning supplies, so you can clean as you stay. If you prefer a different product or supplies, please check at the grocery at the end of the street.

Getting Around

It is easy to get around here. You can catch a collectivo truck or taxi or private taxi at the end of our alley. These trucks and taxis travel to the neighboring villages of Mazunte, La Ventanilla, Zipolite, Puerto Angel and Pochutla. You can also catch a van to Oaxaca.

Other things to note

The entire property is smoke free.

Parking is allowed along the main street. From the main street, it is about a 30 meter walk to the house. The alley leading to the house is a footpath. It is important to have a flashlight when you go out at night or come back after dark.

Wifi is provided in the rental fee. It is fiber optic and works well. It is dependent upon the only provider in Mexico, Telmex. There can be infrequent outages like everywhere in the world.

As with many places on the tropical coast, we do not have hot water. Water for showers is usually ambient and most find they do not need hot water.

The popularity of the area continues to draw people to live here. For this reason, there is construction in all of San Agustinillo. Anywhere you rent, you will hear hammers and some construction noise. It is completely unpredictable. Be prepared to enjoy the place and accept its inconveniences as a popular tourism destination and a growing community.
